Fundación PONS has recently hosted the third workshop within its Series on Innovative Technologies to support SMEs: “The Metaverse applied to companies – What possibilities does it offer your company?” in collaboration with Madrid Foro Empresarial, Ibercaja and Agora News. During the event we were able to learn several real applications that the future Metaverse will make available for the business sector, the different ways of funding in this highly disruptive world and how to protect intangible assets in virtual settings.
Carmen González Candela, the director of the Brands and Brand Intelligence Department at PONS IP, our consulting firm that specializes in industrial and intellectual property, has given a presentation called “The importance of protecting intangible assets for their use in digital environments”, using clear examples to show which industrial and intellectual property is behind several projects and what is the true importance of IP in the metaverse. She highlighted recommendations like “it is essential to register our brands and protect our assets regardless of how much we speak about virtual environments, because they can probably have much greater impact in the medium to long term. We also can’t forget how important it is for us to rely on protection systems with a broader territorial coverage, to be vigilant and act against unauthorized uses, both in physical and virtual environments”.
Together with Carmen González, the event featured experts on the issue including Hilario Alfaro; president of Madrid Foro Empresarial, Jaime Estévez; CEO & co-founder of Agora News, Daniel Sanchez Mateos; director of founder of Gamera Nest, Miguel Marti Campoy and José Luis Gacal; co-founders of DigitalR stock and Wonder Ficción and Laura Gonzalez del Viso; founder and CEO of ACM Auditores.
