PONS IP —a global consulting firm specialising in intellectual property— has announced the appointment of Ana Herrera as the new head of Patents, Technological Development and Innovation, after thirteen years as head of Biotechnology in the Patent Department of PONS IP.
With this appointment —which is part of the PONS IP Transformation process— Herrera will take over from Patricia Ramos, who after 15 years at the head of the department will occupy the position of Deputy General Manager —a position recently created by the consulting firm to complete the digital transformation and process optimisation process initiated in the company in 2020.
In the words of Ana López de Castro —head of Marketing and People at the consulting firm—, Herrera’s appointment ‘is a commitment to professional development and acknowledges the talent of the human team as a differential value of our company. Throughout her extensive career at PONS IP, Ana has greatly contributed to strengthening our current position in the Patent area.’
For Nuria Marcos —General Manager of PONS IP—, the new Head of Patents assumes her new responsibility ‘to consolidate the global leadership of the Patents, Technological Development and Innovation Department and increase our value-added offer with services that support our clients’ business strategy. We are confident that Ana is the best possible profile to take on this challenge, due to her extensive experience and training, her vision of the business and her knowledge of the sector.’
With a degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Herrera holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and a Master’s degree in European Patent Law from the EOI and the University of Strasbourg. The new Head of Patents, Technological Development and Innovation at PONS IP is also a European Patent Agent since 2015 and will lead a team of 40 professionals specialised in fields such as biotechnology, engineering and chemistry, among others, with the aim of continuing to develop one of PONS IP’s strategic areas.
