Pablo López Ronda joins the consulting firm as Area Director, while Ana Teresa Barreto will take on the role of Assistant Director of Trademarks & Brand Intelligence at PONS IP.
PONS IP, a leading global consulting firm in intellectual property services, consolidates its leadership position in the sector with the appointment of Pablo López Ronda as the new Director of the Trademarks & Brand Intelligence Area and Ana Teresa Barreto as Assistant Director of this strategic division. These two appointments are part of a new organisation with which PONS IP, through the creation of an assistant director position, is strengthening its management team within one of its main business areas. According to EUIPO data, PONS IP is the leading Spanish consulting firm in European Union trademark applications, with more than 16,000 trademarks applied for up to 2024 and 23% growth in the last financial year, placing the company among the leading IP companies in Europe in the sector with nearly 1,000 trademarks registered in the last year alone.
With 22 years of experience in the field of intellectual property, Pablo López has spent most of his career at ClarkeModet, where he has held various management and executive positions in the Trademarks department and in Sales, Business Development and Transformation, among others. With a multidisciplinary profile, Pablo López is a lawyer and holds a postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property from ESADE, accrediting his status as an Official Intellectual Property Agent since 2007. In his new position, the new Director of Trademarks & Brand Intelligence will lead a team of 30 specialists, making the area one of the largest and most recognised in the sector.
The new Director of the Trademarks & Brand Intelligence Department, Pablo López, said after joining the company that taking on this new position “is a step forward in my professional career and a challenge that I am eager and excited to take on, knowing that I have an exceptional team and a company that is a benchmark in trademark management and protection. PONS IP not only leads the sector, but also sets the standard, and being able to contribute to this leadership from my position is undoubtedly a unique opportunity.”
Meanwhile, the addition of Ana Teresa Barreto as assistant director will be key to the firm’s internationalisation strategy. Barreto has more than 20 years of experience leading global intellectual property portfolios in Europe and Latin America, both in international firms and in management positions, including as General Manager of ClarkeModet Peru. Until now, she served as Of Counsel at DLA Piper Peru, where she co-led the regional Intellectual Property and Technology group for Latin America. Ana Teresa holds a Cum Laude Law Degree from the University of Lima and a Master’s Degree in Law from the CEU San Pablo University in Madrid, and she is an active member of leading organisations in the sector, such as INTA, ASIPI, APP and AIPPI.
In her new position, Ana Teresa Barreto, as assistant director, highlighted her experience in international firms specialising in Intellectual Property, which “will allow me to provide a strategic vision to actively support our clients in protecting their innovation from a global perspective. Being part of PONS IP, a leading consulting firm committed to excellence, is also a great opportunity for me to actively contribute to the growth and positioning of our services.”
In turn, Nuria Marcos, General Manager of PONS IP, praised both additions to the new Trademarks & Brand Intelligence management team. “At a time when more and more Spanish and international companies are relying on our company to protect and exploit their brands in global markets, we are very proud to have their talent on the team and are convinced that their contribution will be key to successfully supporting our strategy for growth and global expansion at PONS IP.”
