The 2021 edition of the renowned WTR 1000 ranking of the specialized publication called ‘The World Trademark Review‘ has recognized again our International Legal Affairs Manager, Isabel Cortés, and our Of Counsel, José Carlos Erdozain, as the best professionals within a list of the 1000 best specialists in the field of management and defense of intellectual property assets in the world. The great news is that our two team members who were already part of this elite group were joined by Carmen González, our firm’s Trademark Manager who, according to the publication, ‘is at the top of her professional career’.
Every year, the World Trademark Review ranking analyzes the main firms and professionals present in 80 countries around the world, focusing research on trademark professionals, and specifically on aspects such as expertise, complexity and relevance of their management and clients, their presence in the market, their level of work and results, and the assessment of both colleagues and clients.
The three professionals stand out for their professional careers, in terms of results and international expertise. They also have many academic and scholarly publications related to intellectual property, and have been teachers and chair professors for years. In line with our values as a company, all three stand out for their ‘honesty, accessibility and open-mindedness’ when dealing with their clients’ cases.
Based on surveys and random client interviews, WTR’s analysts also highlights all of our professionals’ extensive expertise in major, complex and international affairs. In the case of Isabel Cortés and Carmen González, it involves the management of international trademark portfolios in all types of procedures, like applications and oppositions, negotiations, licenses and cessions among others for all types of trademarks.
In the case of José Carlos Erdozain, the focus is on his experience in civil and criminal litigation, representing numerous companies in the audiovisual production industries, or the results obtained as an international arbitration expert and the resolution of particularly challenging cases for prestigious clients.
They all share significant qualities in terms of global strategy, negotiation skills and reliability, in addition to their presence and relevance at the international association or management level, as is the case of Carmen González at the Official Intellectual Property Association, as well as being in regular demand as speakers on current issues in the IP world.
