Óscar Casado, Legal Director Data & Digital Business at Telefónica: ‘Lawyers should be partners to businesses, not obstacles to innovation.’
This is the second episode of our podcast ‘Privilegios de Invención’ (Invention Privileges), which PONS IP wanted to devote to one of the most well-known intellectual property rights, as well as one of the most frequently used rights by companies worldwide: trademarks. On this occasion, we were joined by several experts who, professionally linked to this particular distinctive sign, have offered different analysis insights, such as Oscar Casado Oliva, Legal Director Data & Digital Business at Telefónica, Inmaculada Redondo Martínez, Head of the Distinctive Signs Department at the SPTO, Carmen González Candela, Head of Trademarks and Brand Intelligence at PONS IP, and Conrad Llorens, President of one of the most renowned branding agencies in our country: SUMMA.
In this second episode of ‘Privilegios de Invención’, we invited Oscar Casado Oliva, who currently holds one of the most important positions within the legal department of Telefónica, to our featured interview. From this department, he has recently led, together with his team, one of the most valued and talked-about rebranding campaigns of 2021 for the main telecommunications company in our country. Linked to the digital ecosystem since the beginning of his professional career, Casado states in his interview that ‘I have always known that my future career would have to do with new technologies, although the profession has changed and will continue to change over the next 10 years, transforming the profile of the corporate lawyer more than in the last 100 years. More and more non-legal skills are required to develop and meet the needs of businesses in an ever-changing industry such as the digital business,’ pointed out the Telefónica executive.
