La Nave in Madrid hosted a new edition of the Metaworld Congress this week, one of the leading events on innovation and technology in Spain. Nuria Marcos, General Manager of PONS IP, participated as a speaker in the round table discussion focused on the legal challenges of the new digital economy.
Over two days, the Metaworld Congress 2025 brought together experts and professionals from the technology ecosystem around an agenda that addressed key issues such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, Web3, cybersecurity, decentralised networks and digital marketing. The event, which this year also included the Open Expo Europe platform and launched the first edition of the Virtual Sports Summit, consolidated its position as a meeting point for innovation, business and regulation.
In this context, Nuria Marcos took part in the round table discussion called “Obligations, infringements and opportunities in intellectual property,” sharing analyses and proposals alongside María José de Concepción Sánchez, Assistant Director-General of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), and Lola Murias, CEO of Descubro B2B. The panel, moderated by Pilar Gómez-Acebo, Honorary President of AMMDE, focused on the new legal challenges associated with the strategic importance of intellectual property, the impact of AI, the growing relevance of data exploitation or digital governance, highlighting the importance of adapting the legal framework to current technological realities and of committing to promoting intellectual property activity to strengthen the strategic sovereignty of our business network.

“Intelligent management of intellectual property assets, from identifying and valuing assets to protecting and transferring them, is key to transforming innovation into competitive advantage. If we are clear about the objective and direction, elements such as trade secrets, patents or trademarks must be at the heart of any solid growth and market entry strategy today,” Nuria Marcos emphasised during her speech.
