PONS IP, a global consulting firm specialising in Intellectual Property, has added two new Intellectual Property Agents to its team of professionals specialising in IP. The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO), with the support of the Official Association of Intellectual Property Agents (COAPI), have awarded Qualification Certificates to carry out the professional activity of Intellectual Property Agent (IPA) to the applicants who managed to pass the qualification tests in 2024.
In this call, two members of our team at PONS IP, lawyer and Sales Manager of the consulting firm, Rocío Peris, and consultant Román Pérez, were recognised as Intellectual Property Agents in an emotional ceremony held in the Julio Dedicado Hall at the SPTO and presided over by the current director of the SPTO, Elisa Rodríguez, who wanted to highlight the role of IP agents as being “essential in the system”. On behalf of the COAPI, vice-president of the professional association and current director of Strategy and Legal Advice at PONS IP, Carmen González, attended alongside the president.
This recognition is an important milestone for the PONS IP team, as it reinforces the capacity of our team to provide the best quality service for the client, while at the same time improving our positioning in the market as a leader in the sector.
To obtain this accreditation, it is necessary to pass a complex qualification exam consisting of three tests: theoretical, practical and foreign language. Ultimately, the aim of this test is none other than to enable and highlight, on the part of the Patent and Trademark Office, the activity and good practices of the intermediaries who manage the intangible assets of companies before the SPTO as key representatives in the proper development of IP activity in Spain.
Rocío Peris and Román Pérez, two key assets at PONS IP
Both Rocío Peris and Román Pérez are two professionals with a great track record in the sector who, with their extensive professional experience in 2024, add the confirmation of that experience with the accreditation as Intellectual Property Agents (IPA).
With nearly 25 years of experience and almost two decades at PONS IP, lawyer and current Sales Manager, Rocío Peris, has seen her extensive knowledge of the sector recognised with an accreditation that is an example for everyone in terms of commitment to continuous training, to clients, and to the profession she has practised for so many years to coordinate the protection strategy planning and internationalisation of clients’ intangible assets.
For his part, the new Intellectual Property Agent, Román Pérez, becomes an IPA after almost 12 years of experience in intellectual property matters, where he has worked at Silex IP and currently at PONS IP as a Consultant with clients from multiple sectors, both nationally and internationally, in matters relating to intellectual property strategy.
