PONS IP once again stands out in the 2024 edition of the WTR 1000 -World’s Leading Trademark Professionals-, the main ranking of reference in the industrial property sector worldwide. Every year, this prestigious list recognises the leading companies and their top professionals in this field in the world’s most relevant markets.
In this latest edition, four professionals from the PONS IP team have been included in the ranking, which reinforces the firm’s leading position in both the Spanish and Latin American markets, adding a new inclusion compared to those achieved in 2023. At the corporate level, PONS IP has been included on the list for both Spain and Colombia, which is a major recognition of the commitment of PONS IP and our Latam Desk in Bogotá and the strength of the consulting firm in the strategy, protection and defence of intangible assets in the trademark area.
Today, WTR states that PONS IP “has one of the largest and most prestigious portfolios of EU trademarks in the industry, highlighting its impact and global presence in the field of industrial property consulting”.
As for PONS IP professionals, the WTR 1000 analysts draw attention in their report to the work, execution and innovative capacity of four of our main specialists in trademark protection:
- Isabel Cortés, lawyer specialising in trademarks and Head of Institutional Projects and Relations
- José Carlos Erdozain, Of Counsel at the consulting firm and PhD in Intellectual Property.
- Juan Camilo Amaya, lawyer specialising in industrial property and Deputy Director of the PONS IP Office in Colombia.
- Guillermo Criado, Director of International Business Development.
The presence and repeated appearance of these professionals on the list during recent years consolidates their position as benchmarks in the sector within the group of the top 1,000 specialists in the management and defence of intellectual property assets at a global level.
This international publication highlights the extensive experience and professionalism of Isabel Cortés, who has more than 25 years of experience collaborating with international clients and managing trademark portfolios with “always efficient, clear and consistent results”, according to World Trademark Review. Isabel Cortés is a benchmark in the management of international trademark portfolios and in the creation of lasting relationships with clients and collaborators around the world, according to the publication’s analysis.
Moreover, the ranking highlights the vast experience of José Carlos Erdozain, defining him as a “triple threat in trademarks”, as he stands out in litigation, arbitration and business consulting, offering his knowledge to advise national and international corporations in sectors such as IT and telecommunications. His international role is also emphasised because “he is often called upon for his expertise in international contracts and arbitration”.
From the PONS IP Office in Colombia, Juan Camilo Amaya has been recognised by the WTR 1000 due to “his good know-how” with clients and his great commitment that is reflected through “the constant dialogue he maintains with them throughout the entire trademark consultation process”. Furthermore, PONS IP’s office in Colombia has been included in the ranking, consolidating its importance in the region.
Lastly, Guillermo Criado’s inclusion in this edition of the WTR 1000 highlights his key role in the development of PONS IP’s international business. The publication recalls and highlights that Criado “joins the firm with the aim of transforming its global influence, taking advantage of his more than 20 years of experience and his in-depth knowledge of intellectual property law and the international business landscape”.
