WAIQ, a community of professionals linked to the deep tech ecosystem, with the support of Real Colegio Complutense (RCC), Harvard Law School and PONS Business School, held the 4th edition of the “Web3, AI and Quantum Computing (WAIQ)” Summer Course at Harvard University in Boston. This course represents an international initiative that brings together CEOs, innovation directors and technology leaders from Spain’s leading companies with the aim of analysing the impact of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing and Web3, and advancing models of responsible technology governance within companies.
With the support of Qilimanjaro, Qcentroid, BLUZEC and PONS IP as sponsors, WAIQ thus strengthens its position as an international think tank that connects innovation, business and strategic decision-making in highly complex technological environments, establishing this space for reflection and networking as a benchmark for anticipating the real impact of deep tech on businesses and society.
Over the course of three days, professionals from leading global and multinational technology organisations such as Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the United Nations (UN) and Globethics, alongside technology companies such as Arcelor Mittal, IBM, Santander, Amazon Web Services (AWS), IBM, NVIDIA, Qcentroid, Qilimanjaro, Quantum Motion or Telefónica, INECO and Valoriza have taken a practical approach to the main drivers of transformation, ranging from artificial intelligence and its impact on key sectors to quantum computing and its implications for cybersecurity and data processing, together the role of a culture of innovation and corporate venturing to identify and capture technological value.
Once again this year, industrial property has been established as a cross-cutting theme of the programme, being featured in the debate as a key driver for transforming technological advances into economic assets, protecting innovation and strengthening business competitiveness in a global environment characterised by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
The fact that this year WAIQ in Boston coincided with Quantum.Tech, one of the sector’s leading international events, enabled the forum to broaden its reach and deepen its connection with the global quantum computing ecosystem.
Moonshot thinking: AI for children and its positive social impact
As a distinctive feature, this edition of WAIQ 2026 has incorporated a moonshot thinking exercise focused on artificial intelligence applied to children, shifting the focus of the debate away from risks and towards the design of solutions with a positive social impact and a constructive approach.
This approach, developed with the active participation of technology companies, corporate innovation leaders and experts in digital ethics, made it possible to explore use cases, global trends and proposals aimed at educational and social development, while also integrating criteria of responsible governance, transparency and technological sustainability from the outset. The aim is to continue developing this project through other activities under the WAIQ initiative.
Luis Ignacio Vicente, strategic adviser at PONS IP and one of the founders of WAIQ, emphasised that nowadays “artificial intelligence represents one of the greatest opportunities to drive positive change in society. The challenge lies in integrating principles of responsible and ethical governance into its design in order to guide its development, particularly in areas such as childhood, where its transformative potential can help build a better future. Its link to new technologies such as Web3 and quantum computing will help to enhance this positive effect. In line with the WAIQ philosophy, this requires a holistic approach that takes into account social, legal, technological, regulatory and industrial property dimensions”.

About WAIQ
WAIQ (Web3, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies) is an initiative that arose as a training programme at Harvard Law School and has evolved into an independent international think tank, focusing on the analysis of emerging technologies, their opportunities for innovation and their impact on society. At present, WAIQ also hosts another winter event in Geneva and organises regular discussion sessions known as WAIQ Communications.
Established as a global community of professionals from various fields, including business, technology, law and institutions, WAIQ promotes critical thinking, the exchange of knowledge and the development of solutions to the challenges arising from the adoption of technology, integrating the ethical, legal and strategic dimensions of these technologies across the board. Its aim is to foster collaboration between leaders and experts in order to tackle the challenges of digital transformation and contribute to technological development that is aligned with economic and social progress.
