PONS IP, a global intellectual property consulting firm, is participating in the new Working Group on Security, Defence and Innovation promoted by the COTEC Knowledge Foundation. This forum, coordinated by SAPA, was created with the aim of analysing how investment in innovation in these areas can strengthen technological sovereignty and generate a strategic impact on territorial and social development.
Represented by Eric Maciá Lang, Head of R&D Legal Consulting in the Technology Consulting Department at PONS IP, the consulting firm’s mission will be to contribute value and knowledge about the value and importance of Intellectual Property in economic sectors that are intensive in innovative activity, especially those such as the Defence and Cybersecurity Industry, which can also contribute to strengthening Spain’s technological sovereignty.
This group joins two others in which PONS IP already participates in COTEC, such as Technological Sovereignty and Artificial Intelligence, consolidating our presence in spaces where policies and strategies for the country’s competitiveness are defined.
In the coming months, participants will address key issues such as dual technologies, talent and specialised training, new investment models, funding, valuation and protection of innovation, as well as the creation of public experimentation spaces, such as sandboxes or public procurement of innovation, together with the definition of standards and metrics to measure the civil impact of these investments. The conclusions of this Working Group will be reflected in a final document of proposals in 2026.
The group includes the participation of nearly 40 COTEC member entities, among them: Acció; Asturian Agency for Science, Business Competitiveness and Innovation (Sekuens); Galician Agency for Innovation; Antolin; Ayming; CAF; CDTI; Autonomous City of Melilla; Community of Madrid; Andalusian Technology Corporation; Éxxita Be Circular; EY; FI Group; EOI Foundation; OESÍA Foundation; Government of Aragon; GMV; Indra; Inetum; Institute for the Promotion of the Region of Murcia; ICE; Regional Government of Andalusia; Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha; Regional Government of Extremadura; MTorres; Multiverse; Navantia; NTT DATA; ONCE; PONS IP; Satlantis; Tecnalia; Tedae; Telefónica; International University of La Rioja (Unir); and Westinghouse.
