Intellectual property as a fundamental pillar in the internationalization of spanish companies
Once again this year, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO), in its commitment to promote Intellectual Property as a fundamental tool for the internationalization of Spanish companies, has launched the “Program for the Promotion of Patent Applications and Utility Models.”
The main objectives of these grants are to foster the international protection of technology through patents or utility models, as well as to contribute to the improvement of competitiveness for organizations whose expansion strategy goes beyond the national territory.
These grants will be aimed to promote the protection of national creations from small and medium-sized companies, natural persons, large private companies and private nonprofit institutions not dependent on or linked to the public sector.
To qualify for these grants, the applicant for the patent or utility model must have applied between July 1st, 2017 and December 31st, 2018. The total amount of these grants will be EUR 8 million, and baseline amounts will be allocated according to the country or group of countries in which the eligible activity took place.
Finally, the submission deadline is one (1) month, starting on May 29th, 2019.
