PONS IP, the global consulting firm specialising in intellectual property, has boosted its international agenda during the second half of the year by participating in four high-level meetings in Europe<\/strong>, Asia<\/strong> and the United States<\/strong> in which it has highlighted the importance<\/strong> of intangible<\/strong> assets<\/strong> derived from new<\/strong> technologies<\/strong> and Artificial<\/strong> Intelligence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luis Ignacio Vicente<\/strong>, Strategic Counselor at PONS IP, was invited to the EUIPO Observatory Plenary Meeting<\/strong> which brought together representatives of the EU Member States, the European Parliament and various services of the European Commission, as well as representatives from the private sector, civil society and international organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the session, the Strategic Counselor was able to provide PONS IP\u2019s vision on AI<\/strong> by analysing its impact<\/strong> on the field of intellectual property rights<\/strong> and companies<\/strong>, together with proposals and activities with the aim of achieving greater legal certainty<\/strong> and public-private collaboration<\/strong> to strengthen the regulatory framework within this sector of IP rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Isabel Cort\u00e9s<\/strong>, Director of Projects and Institutional Relations, participated in the IP policy dialogue<\/strong> organised by INTA<\/strong> in Vienna. Throughout the session, the conversation revolved around the challenges posed by the growing presence of digital products and virtual goods. In this regard, they addressed the challenge for trademarks as class 09<\/strong> encompasses so many products.<\/p>\n\n\n

AIPPI World Congress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Asia, Jialin Chen<\/strong>, International Business Development Consultant, attended the 2024 AIPPI World Congress<\/strong> in Hangzhou. Keeping her finger on the pulse of PONS IP clients and expanding her professional network, she participated in sessions and workshops focusing on current issues such as IP<\/strong> examination<\/strong> and protection<\/strong> in China, developments in patent infringement litigation and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the creation and use of trademarks in the pharmaceutical sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AIPLA Annual Meeting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gaylor National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, was the venue for the AIPLA Annual Meeting<\/strong>, a meeting that has become essential for IP professionals in the US market. Guillermo Criado<\/strong>, Director of International Business Development at PONS IP, participated in the Committee\u2019s working meetings over the three days of the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his participation in Maryland, Criado has strengthened the network of PONS IP correspondents by mediating in the collaboration with IP professionals from all over the world.  The focus of the meetings this year was on both current issues<\/strong> in the intellectual property<\/strong> field as well as developments<\/strong> on the Unified Patent Court<\/strong>, trademark counterfeiting enforcement, march-in rights under the Bayh-Dole Act, copyright, Web and social media scraping, harmonisation of the Design Patent Act and relevant patent litigation cases.<\/p>\n\n\n
