During this day, the <strong>role <\/strong> of <strong>Intellectual<\/strong> <strong>Property<\/strong> rights is commemorated. Patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyright are fundamental elements of a balanced IP system that recognises and rewards the <strong>work <\/strong> of <strong>inventors <\/strong> and creators, enabling society to benefit from their creativity and ingenuity.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This year\u2019s celebration of World Intellectual Property Day focused on the <strong>impact<\/strong> of intellectual property on <strong>driving<\/strong> <a>innovative and creative solutions,<\/a> which are essential to building a shared future. IP provides a <strong>favourable ecosystem<\/strong> for innovation and creativity; enabling researchers, inventors, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, designers, artists and other professionals to legally protect their innovative and creative products and obtain a <strong>financial reward<\/strong> for their work. <\/p>\n\n<p>The event started with a welcome from <strong>Nuria Marcos, <\/strong>General Manager of PONS IP, who stated that \u201cthe active participation of companies in the generation of climate change mitigation technology not only boosts innovation and competitiveness, but also promotes sustainable development and the transition to a greener and more resilient economy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>Anja Von Der Ropp, senior program coordinator of climate Change and Food Security at WIPO said that \u201cwith the deadline for limiting greenhouse gas emissions and the SDGs upon us, we need to harness innovation to make our environment more ecological and more sustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p><strong><u>Leader in wind patents<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>According to the SPTO report <strong>\u2018Technologies for Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change\u2019<\/strong>, <strong>renewable energies<\/strong> are the <strong>most prolific<\/strong> in terms of patents, ahead of hydrogen, nuclear and CO2 capture. In this context, the study reveals that <strong>Spain <\/strong> is the <strong>leader <\/strong> in wind <strong>energy patents<\/strong>, with more than 10% of global wind energy patents being Spanish in origin. <\/p>\n\n<p>In this sense, <strong>Aida Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, director of the Patent and Trademark Office, included that \u201cSpain is an innovative country in terms of health and sustainability, in which <strong>green technologies<\/strong> arouse great <strong>inventive interest<\/strong>. We are a <strong>world power<\/strong> in wind technology, competing head-to-head with technological giants such as the USA, Germany and China. At the SPTO, we want to contribute to fostering this interest, promoting the technological knowledge provided by our patents to turn it into a breeding ground for spurring innovation, so that more and more people contribute <strong> new ideas<\/strong> and <strong>better technologies<\/strong>.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Companies <\/strong> represent <strong>43.7%<\/strong> of <strong>patent<\/strong> and <strong>utility model<\/strong> applicants in Technologies for Mitigation of and Adaptation to Climate Change (TMACC) over the last five years, highlighting their active contribution to the generation of technology. Despite fluctuations in patent applications, companies have maintained a <strong>significant presence<\/strong> in the creation of technologies for <strong>mitigation <\/strong> of and <strong>adaptation <\/strong> to climate change, demonstrating a <strong>continued commitment<\/strong> to innovation in this field. Spanish companies have demonstrated leadership in strategic industries related to low-carbon energy, end-use technologies and adaptation to climate change, contributing significantly to the generation of sustainable solutions.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In turn, <strong>Dolores Herr\u00e1n<\/strong>, business development and marketing director of MOLECOR Tecnolog\u00eda, explained that \u201cin a technology company, <strong>good management<\/strong> of Intellectual Property is <strong>fundamental <\/strong> and <strong>decisive <\/strong> in its growth. And the foundations must be laid at the start, firstly to protect inventions, utility models, trademarks, etc., and secondly to lay the foundations for the different business models: sale, rental, licensing, royalties, etc. The models can evolve, but with a <strong>protected asset<\/strong>, you can model them according to the needs of the business. And continue with that innovation always with an eye on the client and their needs and transversely involving the different areas of the business: R&amp;D, of course, but also sales, marketing, finance, CSR, quality.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Jos\u00e9 Manuel Estrada<\/strong>, CEO and co-founder of TROVANT Technology, concluded that \u201cIP plays a <strong>fundamental role<\/strong> in supporting the development of new technologies. Small innovative companies base their value on the knowledge they create: a correct management of IP allows them to be attractive for continued financing through public or private investment.
