Madrid, July 14, 2022 <\/strong>PONS IP, a global consulting firm specializing in Intellectual Property, has welcomed in its Madrid headquarters a delegation of U.S. students enrolled in the international program The Lex Fellowship<\/em> with the aim of learning “in situ” about the services of the company’s Legal Department team and its work methodology. The meeting was closed with the analysis of a practical case prepared by our Of Counsel, Jos\u00e9 Carlos Erdozain<\/strong> and the PONS IP lawyer specialized in intellectual property, Roc\u00edo Quirante<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lex Fellowship<\/em> is an annual educational program for young people between 18 and 21 years of age, mostly from various colleges in the United States, who are finishing their 4-year pre-university stage and are in the process of applying to law school. With a proven interest in the field of law, the meeting of the 15 young “Fellow”<\/em> at PONS IP is part of a visit program in which, during three weeks, they make an extensive itinerary immersed in the most prestigious offices and firms in the legal sector based in Madrid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the three-hour meeting, the members of this 2022 FellowShip<\/em>were able to see firsthand the growing interest of companies in all issues related to the intellectual property management and defense in a context where intangible assets, such as trademarks, are acquiring strategic significance in the digital economy. The ultimate goal of the program, to which PONS IP joins as a partne<\/em>r this year, is to actively promote the legal profession among its students from a perspective as close as possible to the real world of law, to inspire and encourage young people to take that leap in their future professional career. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by a Legal Associate from the international program, the young participants at the meeting first learned about the new positioning, services and value proposition of PONS IP as one of the leading companies providing support and valuation services as well as intangible asset protection for the nearly 30,000 companies that rely on the services of our company from Ana L\u00f3pez de Castro<\/strong>, PONS IP’s Director of Marketing and People. “Intellectual property management should no longer be understood as a separate area within the company, but as a service that runs across the company’s activity and is integrated into the business strategy. Our transition from a law firm to a consulting firm involves working with IP throughout the entire product life cycle, providing value to organizations from the early stages of idea\/invention development to market launch and subsequent exploitation,” said PONS IP’s Marketing Director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, Jos\u00e9 Carlos Erdozain<\/strong>, Of Counsel, and Roc\u00edo Quirante<\/strong>, lawyer specialized in intellectual property at PONS IP, held a workshop on basic intellectual property concepts and then shared a practical case related to the Messi trademark, where students had to work on its analysis and resolution from an intellectual property perspective for more than 1 hour, helping them to experience<\/em> what the PONS IP team went through for several years and until 2018 in the Court of Justice of the European Union. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
